Five questions worth asking before renewal

Educational information only. Confirm coverage, compliance, legal, and financial decisions with the appropriate licensed professional.

Use changes in the business to guide the review

Coverage needs depend on the policy language and the facts of the account. These questions are prompts for a conversation with a licensed professional, not a coverage determination.

1. What changed in the operations?

New services, products, contracts, territories, or revenue sources can change the exposure presented to the market.

2. What changed in the people and vehicles?

Review drivers, vehicle use, employee count, payroll, contractors, and any hired or non-owned vehicle exposure that may need to be discussed.

3. What changed in the physical footprint?

Confirm locations, occupancy, improvements, equipment, inventory, replacement assumptions, and any lender or landlord requirements.

4. What do customer contracts require?

Certificate requests can reveal recurring requirements for limits, additional insured status, waivers, or notices. The policy and endorsements—not the certificate alone—control coverage.

5. What evidence is still missing?

Identify outstanding applications, schedules, loss information, valuations, and signed forms early enough for a professional to review them before the decision deadline.
